Our passions define who we are. So Huawei and Dazed asked some of today’s most creative up-and-coming photographers to celebrate the communities that reveal their true selves using the Huawei P10; a dual lens camera phone built on the century-long legacy of Leica, the original street photography pioneers.

From a shortlist of twenty powerful entries, judges from Leica Galleries International and Arts Impact Fund selected just three overall winners. Each received £10,000 for their community, but only one walked away with a Living Gallery of their work: Anthony Shintai Amao, with his impressive celebration of Birmingham’s Break Mission.

From Hip Hop to Dancehall to Grime, Blak Twang (born Tony Olabode, England) who also uses the pseudonyms of Taipanic and Tony Rotton, is a British rapper who grew up in Deptford, Lewisham, South-East London.

His debut single was 1995’s “What Goin’ On”. His debut album, Dettwork SouthEast – Blak Twang : The Lost Classic (a pun on the rail company Network SouthEast) was sent out to the media for self-promotion but never released. It included “Real Estate” and the title track, “Dettwork SouthEast”. His second album, 19 Long Time, also suffered from record label obstruction. The album included “Red Letters” and Roots Manuva collaboration, “Shhhoosh”.

However, his 2002 album Kik Off was awarded full label release, and spawned several singles, the football themed “Kik Off”, Twang anthem “So Rotton”, and “Trixsta” (featuring Estelle), all of which achieved radio play and a degree of commercial success. In 2005 he released the album The Rotton Club, backed with the single “GCSE (Ghetto Children Sex Education)” featuring Twang’s protégé (and Rottonus Records signee) K9. Twang also released another single from the album in late 2005, “Travellin” which featured Barrington Levy in the original album version, but the video featured the First Man Remix with female singer Tali.

Known worldwide as a DJ & turntablist Mr Thing is a name synonymous with Hip-Hop that always brings a smile to the faces of fans and promoters alike as they remember genius performances of impeccable skill. First touching the tables in 1987 he has been non-stop perfecting his art since and is now one of the worlds best. Touring the world with an understanding of records and music that is second to none, he always creates flawless and exciting sets mixing some of the rarest records with some of the best loved records ever heard with an apparently effortless ease honed after years of practice.

If Mr Thing is playing at a party… make sure you GO! You will never be disappointed!
Rocking parties is not the limit of his skils, not even close!

He has won DJ battles, both solo and as part of the Scratch Perverts, has a production discography that is the envy of most. He is responsible for some of the most perfect mixtapes & for a string of BBE released compilations including the creatively titled “STRANGE BREAKS & MR THING” and of course the rightly titled “KINGS OF HIP HOP” with DJ Premier.

Juice Aleem

Juice Aleem first made waves as one third of New Flesh, a trailblazing UK crew who, across three albums of lyrically intelligent rap coloured in with soca, electro and dancehall sounds, did much to give UK hip-hop a distinctly homegrown flavour. Aleem’s debut solo album, recorded in collaboration with Gamma producer Blackitude, is, on the surface, similar to the output of New Flesh, but if anything this finds Aleem musing more personally, pondering religion and race, lashing out at lazy rappers, and getting philosophical about his place as a third-generation immigrant in a land where, ”rice and peas is now chips and ketchup”.
