BIO

ABOUT FRANTICK:

Ricardo “Boogie Frantick” Rodriquez, Jr. is a Los Angeles-based dancer who is known worldwide as a master of the street dance style known as “popping.” His path started in local dance battles in underground clubs in the San Fernando Valley and has taken him to some of the biggest stages in the world, including the 2010 Academy Awards, a role in the film Step Up 3D, and electrifying performances with Queen of Krump Miss Prissy’s company, The Underground, at USC, Cal State Long Beach, and the Nate Holden Performing Arts Center. In 2015 alone, he has taught workshops, performed his distinctive solos, and inspired young street dancers in Paris, Bondi, France, London, New Dehli, India, Warsaw, Poland, Singapore, Bankstown, Sidney, Australia, Seoul Korea, Beijing, Hong Kong, JiangMen, Chengdu, Zhongshan, Fuzhou, China, Bolivia, Japan, Moscow, Rostov, Russia, and Taipei, Taiwan. He has been a featured dancer on So You Think You Can Dance, Dancing With the Stars, The Queen Latifah Show (with Snoop Dogg and LA artist Dam Funk), Best Time Ever With Neil Patrick Harris, Late Night With Conan O’Brien, Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, and in the web series The Legion of Extraordinary Dancers (The LXD); in commercials and events for Microsoft, Google, Red Bull and Seth MacFarlane; as a judge, participant, and champion in major dance competitions around the globe; and as Assistant Creative Choreographer for Christopher Scott.

Boogie Frantick was born in the San Fernando Valley and, as a youth shuttling between the Valley and East Los Angeles, used the elegant art of popping, miming, and animation as protection from the negative street life that surrounded him. As a 25-year veteran of street dance and a distinguished expert on the history of Hip Hop culture, Frantick has been a member of some of the most influential dance crews in history, including MZK (formerly Mighty Zulu Kingz), Academy of Villains, Substance Over Hype, The LXD, Celebrity Dance Masters, The Underground, and The Gr818ers, a coalition of San Fernando Valley college students and Hip Hop artists who work to improve racial and cultural relations, both locally and nationally. He is active in the community, and has dedicated his life to using dance as a means of expression, and as inspiration for a new generation of artists.
SEE YOU ALL THERE!!! PEACE!!!!

Me and the rest of the Break Mission team have put together a piece of work for the theatre stage and we are showing part of what we have put together on February 25th at The Old Rep Theatre during their New Works Night. The show kicks off at 7pm and you can purchase tickets online here—-> PURCHASE TICKETS FOR OUR FIRST SHOW OF THE YEAR!!

Growing from the success of the theatre-focused New Work Nights in our Autumn season – and in response to audience and artist demand – February sees our first New Work Nights: Dance event at The Old Rep.

West Midlands choreographers and companies bring original performances to the stage, ranging from extracts of new productions ready to tour, to work in its early stages of development from some of the most exciting young dance talents in the region.

This first event will celebrate the diversity of dance forms in our city, including new solo work, ‘Infinite Womanhood’, from Birmingham-based artist Laura Vanhulle, and Vanhulle Dance Theatre. Laura has previously worked with Motionhouse, Ace Dance and music, Keneish  Dance Theatre and  Aakash.

Other performers include Jigsaw Collective, Outspoken Dance and Break Mission lead artists David ‘Footloose’ Russell and Michael ‘Silence’ Glasgow.

If you would like your work to be part of New Work Nights: email to find out more creative@oldreptheatre.co.uk
